Effective Removal of Viscous Oils VISCOUS Pom-Pom offer an effective method to deal with the recovery of viscous or weathered crudes. Each VISCOUS POM-POM consists of an approximate 1/2 lb. cluster of oleophilic fibers which attract oil and reject water. VISCOUS POM-POMS provide an inexpensive, disposable sorbent for dealing with heavier oils even in he most adverse conditions (sub-freezing temperatures). The Pom-Poms can be individually deployed onto the contaminated water surface, and retrieved using pitchforks, rakes or boat hooks. Additionally, Pom-Poms may be wrung out or cleaned with lighter oils (#1 or #2 fuel) to provide re-usability or reduction of disposal fees. VISCOUS POM-POMS are packaged in bags. Each bag weighs approximately 15 lbs. and contains approximately 30 Pom-Poms. Test results have shown that 1 lb. of VISCOUS Pom-Pom fibers can recover approximately 25 lbs. of crude at 70oF (lower temperatures will increase recovery rate). VISCOUS SORBENT BOOM consists of oil sorbing Pom-Poms securely attached to a central polypropylene line, providing a quick deploying sorbent boom ideal for the tougher weathered crude oils. Each section contains 30 ea. Pom-Poms on 20" spacing and is easily deployed and can be attached together rapidly to form any desired length. Saturated or contaminated sections can be easily removed and replaced. VISCOUS SORBENT BOOM is ideal for protecting shorelines or beaches, washing operations along shores, "sweeping" operations, or filtering tidal flows from contaminated marsh areas (can also be used with "filter fences").
