Komara Star
Industrial Disc Skimmer The Komara Star skimmer is a compact, rugged, free floating skimmer head utilizing patented toothed disc technology successfully proven in oil spill conditions. It has the ability to recover viscous or emulsified oil even in the presence of floating debris. The skimmer head has a single bank of profiled toothed discs operating at the oil / water interface. Rotation of the discs moves surface oil towards the skimmer head, the teeth on the disc then pull oil into the skimmer body over a raised lip, thus reducing water recovery, and into the on-board pump. Hydraulic power to drive the disc bank and pump is supplied by an air cooled diesel hydraulic power pack which can be provided solely to drive the skimmer or in an optional multi-purpose configuration to power other equipment. The ideal operational locations are: ports and harbors, waste oil pits, shoreline operations, coastal waters, and inland waters. It is capable of recovering 66 US gpm and can be utilized to collect medium to high (20,000+cSt) viscosity oils and emulsions with very low free water content. System Benefits
